Obituary of Maureen Moffatt

Please share a memory of Maureen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Maureen Moffatt (née Cunneen) passed away quietly at her home with her children following a courageous battle with cancer.  She leaves behind her daughter Bridget and son-in-law Jake MacNaughton, her son Peter and his girlfriend Erin Stenwall.

Maureen was predeceased by her parents Charles and Mary Cunneen. She leaves behind her siblings Kevin (Peggy) Cunneen, Terry (Brian) Reilly, and Ellen (Fabian) Gordon. She also leaves behind her nephews and nieces, many devoted friends, and her Stuyvesant Town Peter Cooper Village community.

Maureen grew up in Massapequa Park, Long Island, NY. She attended Catholic schools for her elementary and high school education, which attributes to her strong faith.  She attended college at SUNY Plattsburgh receiving a Bachelor's degree in Business. While at Plattsburgh she was fortunate to work at the Winter Olympics in Lake Placid in 1980.  Her first job after college was in banking for Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company.  After leaving the bank, she dedicated her life to raising children. She then worked at Epiphany School in the preschool program. Afterwards she became the office manager at Windsor Court Dental, where she worked until recently.

Maureen had an amazing spirit and sense of independence. She equally loved traveling to new places as she did exploring her home of New York City. She found incredible joy from the little things in life like a sunset, the smell of lavender, and a cup of Irish tea. She was selfless in her time, always willing to help a friend or neighbor. Maureen had a strong faith and belief that she was putting herself in God's hands.

Maureen’s love for her family and friends will never be forgotten. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her dearly.
