MARIEN HARTMANN LOPRETO
May 20, 1926 - August 17, 2022
Marien LoPreto, a resident of New York City left us on Wednesday, August 17, 2022. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 26 from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM at the Gannon Funeral Home located at 152 East 28th Street in New York City, followed by a short memorial at the Kensico Cemetery located at 273 Lakeview Drive in Valhalla New York at 11:30 AM. Marien, an only child, was born on May 20th, 1926 at Bronx Hospital. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Trudi, grand children Nancy and Jason Pohlman and great granddaughter Violet Pohlman. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Gertrude Hartmann, her ex-husband John Sr., the love of her life Marvin B. Turetsky, and her beloved son John Jr. Marien spent her early years enjoying home and school, graduating from Bayridge High School in Brooklyn. Marien enjoyed her many years as a stay-at-home mother to John Jr. Marien worked at the accounting firm that started as Turetsky & Saphier for over 35 years and prior to that was the secretary “in charge” at Flatlands Reform Church in Brooklyn, New York as well as being a faithful member there for many years. Marien was an Elder of the Reformed Church in America, had served for many years as Treasurer of the Regional Synod of New York, and was a member of Marble Collegiate Church. Marien loved cats, literature, art, antiques, attending the opera at Lincoln Center and living in the heart of Manhattan after spending many years as a resident of Brooklyn. She spent many of her summers enjoying boating, swimming, and walking in the mountains at her family cabins in Lake George, New York. Marien will be missed by all who had the pleasure of her friendship and love.
