Eileen Elizabeth Hoban of Manhattan peacefully entered eternal rest midday Friday, November 2020 at home. She led a life well lived for 81 years.
Eileen was preceded in death by her parents William Hoban and Anna Dolan along with her brother Robert Hoban Sr., sister Alice Costello, sisters in law Barbara and Jean Hoban, brother in law Jay Costello, niece Kathleen Hoban and great nephew Michael Hoban. She is survived by her loving brothers William and James Hoban of Florida, sister in law Catherine Hoban, nieces and nephews Dana Doherty, Robert Hoban Jr. , Anthony Hoban, Patrice Hoban, Erin Dittmar, AnnMarie Nicolosi, Mary Jane Hoban with Daniel, Keith and Michael Costello. Her spirit will live on in stories told to great nieces and nephews Aven Doherty, Matthew Hoban, Joseph Nicolosi, Gracie Hoban, Kelly, Emily and Julia Saucier alongside RJ and Lucy Dittmar.
Eileen enjoyed spending her time first with family having a cup of tea, participation with her beloved parish, Florida, or travelling both abroad and to the Stuy Town Oval when not with her long-time friends from Albany Crescent, Stuyvesant Town and Century Village. She was known for her fondness of the Bronx, quick wit, funny one-liners, and her generous spirit.
A viewing and funeral mass will be held Tuesday, November 17th at her parish Immaculate Conception Church, New York, NY beginning at 9:15 for close family and friends before burial at Gate of Heaven in Hawthorne, New York. In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests donations be made in her name to the American Cancer Society or Immaculate Conception Church in Manhattan.
